Firstly, as specified in my brief, I am advertising a product consisting of active, youthful and unisex brand values. Therefore, I have selected four print advertisements which mirror this vigorous brand identity and I have annotated the codes and conventions of each print advert. Afterwards, I collectively processed this information and constructed a codes and conventions table of what I have learned about these print adverts comprehensively.
1 1. Lynx 'Even angels will fall' Advertisement
2. Calvin Klein One, ‘You’re the one’ Advertisement
3. Dove 'Beauty Finish' Advertisement
4. Nivea 'Feel Closer' Advertisement
The codes and conventions that I have concluded from these annotations:
· -The packshot is conventionally placed in the bottom right-hand/ left-hand corner
· - The print adverts contain a variety of colours which make the advert look more eye-catching and attractive to the audience
· -The tagline/slogan is usually placed beside the packshot
· -The colour font of the text usually juxtaposes with the background to make the print advert bolder
· -The costumes of the models also juxtapose with the background to make the models stand out in the print advert
· -There is very little information provided about the product, in order to keep the print advert looking simple and memorable
· -There are strong colour motifs which reflect the colours of the product
· -The brand logos are small and are usually placed in the top left-hand corner of the print advert
· -Print adverts usually contains one focal image
· -There are persuasive facts/statements in bold that attempt to convince the target audience to purchase the product on the print adverts
IIn my print adverts, I am going to conform to these codes and conventions.
