11. Production Review: My Production and my intended improvements

In order for my print adverts to be as successful as possible, I ensured that I asked the media staff as well as my peers to review my work. There were certain things about my adverts that I wasn't completely happy with, so I focused my questions around these points.

First review (Mrs Blackborow)
From my review with Mrs Blackborow I worked out that it would be a good idea to enlarge my focal images in order to fill up the page as the setting dominated the page. She showed me some perfume adverts which helped me realise that print adverts look better when you use a small number of different fonts and sizes, as this will make the advert look more attractive and eye-catching. In addition, I decided to swap the film quote and the copy in my disco advert and Mexican wave advert in order to fill up some empty spaces.

Second review (Sam, media technician)
In this review, Sam and I taliked about the grading of all four of my adverts. From this I realised the Pirates of the Caribbean advert was probably a bit too bright, so I toned down the brightening levels along with the contrast. In addition, we discussed the background for my youth liberation advert, and as a result I decided to use a black to white gradient as the background in order to make the advert look more appealing. On the disco advert, I also decided to use a yellow tint for the brightening levels to make the models actually look like they were there, as until now I couldn't really work out how to do this. We also discussed my use of quotes and it was then that I realised that not all of my film references in my quotes were capitalised.

Third review (Mrs Dymioti)
In this review, Mrs Dymioti and I discussed the layout of my advert designs, and this encouraged me to think about being more consistent. After that I made sure all my quotes were at the bottom of the advert and the copy was at the top of each advert. When I did this I realised the brand name didn't stand out enough and once I changed this I thought all four adverts look more attractive. I also centralised the slogan in my Pirates of the Caribbean advert and my youth liberation advert, and made sure the copy was equidistant from the end of the page in all of my print adverts.

Fourth review - Target audience Review (Abbie and Oliver)
In this review, my peers said they didn't like the white line me around the violin in the youth liberation advert as this was visible. They also thought one of my models was smaller in proportion to the other models and that the background didn't fully suit the models in the Mexican Wave advert. This was really helpful and I made some improvements as a result.
