1. How I intend to fulfil the requirement of the brief I have chosen.

For this project, I have chosen to follow the print brief whereby I will produce a campaign of four-full page magazine adverts to promote a new unisex deodorant from UK deodorants. In this post, I will outline the requirements of the brief and state my advert proposals through my mood board and my mockups.

In order to successfully meet the requirements of the brief, I will ensure that:
  • Each print advert will have a different main image, with at least two different locations and at least two different models used across the four adverts.
  • The adverts can be from different issues
  • The adverts will be placed in Total Film magazine, therefore the content will reflect the location
  • The client target audience is 16-25 male and female demographic, therefore the content should match this age group.
  • The product will be called 'Wave' and will meet the brand values of the print advert being active, unisex and youthful
  • All four adverts must contribute to a strong and consistent brand identity and will use the same slogan/tagline.
  • The adverts will include the techniques of intertextuality, generic hybridity, humour or emotional appeal, this engages the target audience and makes the advert memorable
  • I will use at least four different main images using original photography across the four adverts to fit the brand identity and the conventions of magazine adverts.
  • There will be at least two different settings with a significantly different use of mis-en-scene and/or lighting.
  • There will be written text including the product name and a slogan/tagline that expresses the brand identity.
  • There will be appropriate consideration of where the adverts will be displayed
  • There will be least two characters representing at least two different social groups across the four adverts
  • I will produce four full-page magazine adverts presented as A4 prints
  • I will adhere to the ASA rules.
Firstly, I created a mood board to encapsulate my initial ideas after reading through the brief. This helped me to explore different adverts as well as the different briefs which inspired me and also collect any images which had a connection with the word 'Wave' as it can be interpreted in many ways.

Afterwards, I created rough mock-ups of my four adverts via Microsoft word. This helped me to visualise what each print advert would look like and the annotations explain my ideas clearly.

1. My 'youth liberation' idea

2. My 'Pirates of the Caribbean mermaid' idea

3. My 'concert/disco' idea

4. My 'Mexican Wave' idea
